The Perks of Not Going Straight Home
That's my friend Carey standing in the sea on a Sunday afternoon. I mentioned her in yesterday's blog post too. We went to a holiday crafts party at the Ranch together, and as we drove home, I was completely charmed by her habit of noticing everything, and by her willingness to slow down, turn around, stop, and get a better look at it all.
Carey needs no convincing that we should climb up a hill for a better view, or pull over to ascertain just what particular bird that was, or drive down to the beach because it's low tide, after all, and here we just happen to be.
This is starting to resemble a photo blog, but I thought you might enjoy that sampling of sea anemones. I had no idea they varied so in color...remarkable, are they not? Known as the flowers of the sea, they are actually predatory creatures that attach to rocks, reefs, or the bottom, waiting for passing fish that they can ensnare in their venomous tentacles.
It's a wildly imaginative universe, and I love these low tide sneak peeks of underwater life, and I especially like that last picture of Carey-being-present.
