And It Changes

cloudsky

POEM by Barry Spacks

Will it come again like this?

Will we ever get it right?

It is always as it is,

And it passes.

Never as it was,

Yet always somehow bright,

Always somehow sweet

In its changes.

We will never get it right.

It will come again, but not like this.

It is always as it is,

And it changes.

And slows his horse to a meaning walk,
I don't stand still and look around
On all the hills I haven't hoed,
And shout from where I am, What is it?
No, not as there is a time to talk.
